HVAC Across Plano

DFW Air Cost

We got three quotes after our 15-year-old Carrier died in West Plano. DFW Air Cost was the middle quote but the only company that showed us the Manual J load calculation for proper sizing. The other two just said ‘you need a 4-ton’ without measuring anything. System’s been running perfectly for seven months. Their pricing tiers are published online and matched the in-person quote exactly. What we didn’t fully appreciate until later: the 10-year labor warranty. Our neighbor’s Trane had a blower motor fail in year three — her HVAC company covered the part (manufacturer warranty) but charged $1,800 for the labor. If that happens to our system, DFW Air Cost covers the labor at no cost through 2033.

Rated 4.9/5 on Google.

Varsity Zone HVAC

East Plano’s 1990s homes have bare-minimum insulation. Varsity Zone’s energy audit — thermal camera, blower door test, duct leakage measurement — found we were losing 30% of cooled air through the attic. The fix cost $3,200 and paid for itself in 18 months of electric savings. They’re the only company we found that does the complete diagnostic workup instead of just selling equipment. Their 10-year labor warranty on installations covers the attic work too — most insulation contractors offer one year, maybe two, and walk away.

Puddle Pools

After firing two pool companies in two years, Puddle has been refreshingly boring — in the best way. Monday mornings, pool’s always clear, monthly bill is exactly what they quoted. Photo report every week through their app. Legacy area, 18,000-gallon pool, $195/month, chemicals included, no contract.

East Plano vs. West Plano: What’s Different

West Plano homes (Willow Bend, Deerfield) tend to be newer with higher-end systems but also higher service costs. East Plano’s older homes (near Spring Creek, 15th Street) need contractors comfortable with vintage systems and potentially outdated wiring. Most companies on this list serve all of Plano, but we noted which areas they’re strongest in.
